Versatile actress Rituparna Sengupta is celebrating her birthday today and many Bengali celebrities have been wishing the actress on her special day. Her social media accounts are flooded with the wishes. On her special day, even fans are also not behind from wishing this beautiful actress.  
Rituparna Sengupta began her acting career on television. Her first acting assignment was Sada Paira (1989) and was catapulted to stardom after she made her big screen debut with Prabhat Roy's National Award winning Bengali film Shwet Patharer Thala (1992). She made her Bollywood debut with Partho Ghosh's Teesra Kaun (1994). During her hey-day, she was often paired with Prosenjit and Chiranjeet. She was featured opposite Prosenjit for the first time in Bhijoy Bhaskar's Naag Panchami (1994) and Chiranjeet for the first time in Prashant Nanda's Lal Paan Bibi (1994).  








In 2004, Sengupta had 12 releases in Bengali cinema, all of which became box office debacles generating the common notion among the filmmakers that the actress had lost her market value. Sengupta starred in Sushanta Saha's Sagar Kinare (2004) where she shared silver screen with Debashree Roy for the first time.  Sengupta, in 2012 met box office success with two of her releases — Charulata 2011 and Muktodhra. 

Meanwhile, she will be next in Maya Kumari directed by Arindam Sil . The film will celebrate 100 years of the cinema. The film titled as Maya Kumari. Maya Kumari revolves around top actress of '40s who suddenly leaves the industry and starts living with her husband away from the city. Rituparna Sengupta will be seen as the female lead. Abir plays a double role as Kanan Kumar, a popular hero of '40s and Kanan's grandson Ahir.
